摘    要： Sphalerons are static, unstable solutions of certain nonlinear field theories that arise when the configuration space admits noncontractible loops. In this talk, we explore the dynamical properties of these solutions in theories defined on S1, focusing on their decay and potential stabilization mechanisms that may enhance their lifespan. Our analysis includes theories with (e.g., ϕ4 and sine-Gordon) and without (e.g., ϕ6) reflection symmetry, highlighting significant differences in their behavior. Additionally, we show that, on time scales comparable to the size of the circle, the collapse of large sphalerons mimics the kink-antikink scattering on the real line.
